INT, MCUs of the General seated at a table and speaking of an inspection trip which he made (not identified) and how he was pleased by what he saw. He says that the concept of the exercise was excellent. He mentions that he inspected the 28th Division from "stem to stern." He is impressed with the units of the French Army which took part in the maneuver. He asks if there are any questions. Reporters (off screen) ask questions, some of which are barely audible. The General says that no decision has been made about replacing General Van Fleet in Korea. He then speaks about the utilization of atomic weapons, etc.

Joseph Lawton Collins (1896-1987) was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. After his graduation from West Point in 1917, he commissioned with the infantry. He served with the American forces in Germany from 1919 to 1921. Between 1921 and 1931, he taught at West Point and the Infantry School. He graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1933 and the Army Industrial College in 1937. Upon graduation from the Army War College in 1938, he became an instructor there.
